The Joomla Project is proud to announce the immediate availability of Joomla 1.6 beta 4 . IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a beta version and is not intended to run any type of production site. It is intended to be used for evaluation purposes only.
Since the Joomla 1.6 beta 3 release on Jun 14, we have fixed approximately 103 issues in the tracker. Much of this progress is directly related to the steppeforts of the Joomla! Bug Squad. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing us one increment closer to stable!

Since 19 May 2010 is the first beta version of Joomla 1.6 available for download. The first impression after the installation of the beta convinced. The new layout of the administrative area is modern and uncluttered.
Graphically, all the old icons were replaced by new ones. A few have changed the navigation and Sublinks. There are, in the new version of the components, a new feature called "Redirect Manager", which allows for source and destination URL's to enter redirects. Even the menu manager has been revised.
The beta version contains three default templates: "Atomic" is virtually a blank template that looks very empty, if one decides to set up when installing any such content. "Rhuk_milkyway" is a standard template that is already known from previous versions of Joomla and Joomla has been revised 1.6. "Beez 2.0" is an objective, low-barrier template. In the beta version is currently no additional templates can be installed, some were templates that were copied to the template directory of the Joomla 1.6 Beta, not even recognized. Therefore, currently no information about possible whether templates that were created for the Joomla version 1.5 work in Joomla 1.6 . |
